We are honoured to hold the 5th Solo Exhibition for Woo Seng Non who is an artist par excellence. Woo is a very versatile artist who can paint any subjects, portraits, still life, landscapes, and capturing cultural activities of lion dance, gotong royong, cooking lemang, charcoal making, orang asli with blowpipes to name a few. He is well known for his hyper realism skills, his rambutans and prawns shows his amazing patience. His impressionism works of his vibrant Koi fishes, his realistic orang asli in the misty Perak jungle, and his shimmering charms of his sunsets, streets & market scene are truly fascinating.
Woo is 73 year old and is a very accomplished full time artist and art teacher. He is the only Malaysian artist we know of, to have studied in Hong Kong Academy of Fine Arts in 1964, where his masters were trained by distinguished lineage of famous artists such as John Singer Sargent of Italy/USA and William Meritt Chase of USA. He started his art school, Hung Yang Academy of Art at Bukit Mertajam in 1989 and many of his numerous students are now accomplished artists. As President of the Penang Oil Society he has held and organised annual exhibitions for the past 13 years to promote and encourage art in Malaysia, especially in the northern region.
To commemorate his 5th solo exhibition, we are publishing Precious Gems… Just For You: Woo Seng Non 5th Solo Exhibition, a 64-page coffee table book where some of his masterworks are presented.
All his works (except a few already sold) in this book are for sale.
