The Art Gallery is proud to host a group visual art exhibition entitled Rekindle: Alex Leong and Students. Rekindle is not just an exhibition; it’s a beacon of hope for those whose talents lie dormant, waiting to be reignited. Alex Leong has been teaching art since 1991. Most of his students went on to further their career or studies which are non-related to fine art. He organised this exhibition to inspire them to continue to pursue their talent.
This exhibition features 27 paintings bringing together a diverse collection of artworks by his students that reflect the profound influence of his mentorship. The participants in this exhibition includes Alex Leong and his 13 students Ang Chun Xuan, Ang Chun Yiing, Daniel Ho, Chan Keen Fei, Eng Cheng Xin, Fung Wei Wei, Lim Jee Teng, Lee Chye Guan, Ooi Kai Sheng, Stephanie Choong, Tan Ming Min, Tan Yen Xin and Tan Zhou Xian.
The artworks on display encompass a wide range of styles, mediums, and themes, yet they all share a common thread – the indelible imprint of Alex Leong’s guidance. Some pieces echo his classical training, with meticulous attention to detail and masterful technique, while others push the boundaries of convention with experimental forms and bold concepts.
