Watercolour on Canvas: 7th Solo Exhibition 2022 by Alex Leong

Watercolour on Canvas by Alex Leong

The Art Gallery is delighted to present to you Alex Leong’s seventh solo exhibition, Watercolour on Canvas. Alex is a well-known watercolourist especially for his panoramic watercolour scenes with lots of details craftily composed on paper, with feelings of nostalgic memories from his childhood days.

For this coming solo exhibition, Alex has decided to push further from his comfort zone and explore an entire new technique/skill. He started venturing on to paint watercolour on canvas.

For this solo exhibition, the main focus is showcasing a sample of his favourite/popular past series that he has painted before in his art career. His favourite past series that are being shown are as follows:

  1. After School Series
  2. Baba Nyonya Series
  3. Celebration Series
  4. Childhood Traditional Games Series
  5. Harmony Street Series
  6. Love, Dream, Flower Series
  7. Patchwork Quilts for Nature Series
  8. Public Phone Series
  9. Rhythm of HDB Series
  10. Still Life Series
  11. Street Scenes Series
  12. Under the Canopy Series

There are in total 26 paintings, 6 paintings of watercolour on paper and 20 paintings of watercolour on canvas. We have decided to incorporate a few watercolours on paper artworks to allow the public to see his transition of work from watercolour on paper to watercolour on canvas.

A video interview in Mandarin Chinese was recently conducted for Alex to explain about his artwork series in this exhibition. Also, the published catalogue of Watercolour on Canvas: 7th Solo Exhibition by Alex Leong is now available for purchase.
